A silky terrier is a mix of a yorkshire terrier and the australian terrier, they were originally called sydney terriers, due to them being raised in Australia.. with beautiful silky hair, a more obolong body and a thiner coat. AKC standards call for an 11 pound maximum weight. I find my silkies to be a bit yappier than my yorkies..

I feel is a sturdier stronger breed less health issues in my opinion, they still can suffer from some genetic faults but a good line silky is a very healthy dog.. fast, strong and super energetic. one more thing, the silkie has a longer body, a yorkie is more square..
