Cry Help! Yorkie scared out of his mind after trip to the vet

Dunkin has had a rough few days. Last week, he was neutered, and one of his testicles did not drop so it was more invasive of a procedure. He also had seven teeth pulled. His recovery was going pretty well, and he was in good spirits by Saturday, but he had not pooped yet.

Late Saturday night he tried to poop. I could see it, but not matter how hard he pushed he couldn't get it out. I tried to help, but it was still stuck. He spent about 20 minutes pushing with no luck and gave up. Sunday morning (yesterday), first thing, we tried again. He was able to get part of it out, but the rest was still stuck, and it got matted into his hair and he just kept pushing. He couldn't walk right, sit or lay down comfortably. After consulting with my vet on the phone, I took him to a closer emergency clinic, and they had to shave down the area. He finally got it all out, and luckily he has been able to go poop since then.

But now, he's so scared. My once-confident 9-month-old puppy is now hiding under the bed, scurrying from one place to another so fast that he's falling all over himself and jumping at every little sound. He also keeps hiding in shelves and under furniture, not coming out when I call him. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Is he just spooked? Can I help him gain confidence back without too much activity? (he still has a stitch in from his surgery).

We go back to the regular vet on Wednesday for a follow up from the original surgery, but I'm scared that he will only scurry, not walk normally. Does anyone have any suggestions?
