Please keep in mind, an area rug looks very much to a untrained yorkie like a pee pad. It may be a different color, pattern etc but all the same ---a pee pad.
My two youngest pups were brought up in an x pen on a tile floor (breeder) with pee pads. At my house we don't have pee pads on the floor. I am training them to go outside. Every once in awhile, I'll catch one trying to squat on my area mats in the kitchen (tile floor) Ahhh, looks like a "pretty" pee pad!
