I cover her crate the sides and top with a blanket and I warm her bed before putting her in with a snuggle buddy or I throw her blanket in the dryer. I put her in and say good night. She has not whined except for the first night and that only lasted 3 min. She wakes me up twice to go in her ex-pen to pee and I always put her right to bed after she pees. I really think you have to start a routine and she or he will feel secure. I also have a lil heater on low by her bed bc we live in CT. I hope this helps you a little. Also try putting their favorite stuffed toy with them in bed! good luck~Joyce
The warmed bed is a good idea and I know this is an old idea but it works. If you buy a cheap little clock that ticks and wrap it in a towel they really settle down. We did this and it does work. Also if you put warm water in a hot water bottle and wrap it up in a towel they like the warmth like being with their mother.

She is probably missin mum right now. Good luck
