Actually, we live in Texas, and I would have to say that pajamas or nightgowns can be essential for small dogs such as Yorkies. Even if you don't believe in clothes for dogs, pjs might be a must for some.
For example....Kandi gets cold VERY easily. She has been known to shiver so hard that I've taken her to the vet thinking she might be ill. She just gets that cold. Pj's are an enormous help for that. It's not the only thing we do, but it's a pretty major part of it.
Also, when we have other dogs visiting, they can become so worked up that it gets a little out of control. By putting pjs on everyone, it keeps the situation much calmer and easier to control.
So, I would have to say that pj's are no more out there than dresses.
