Believe me I am NO expert... This is what I did with max though.

He had an x-pen that I kept him in in between potty breaks.
Then we he seemed to get it about going out I made his "world" a little bigger.
The whole Laundry room (tiled floor for easy clean up).
Then that became the entire kitchen and laundry room.
His world got bigger as he caught on. Always in an area or floor type with easy clean up. Not wood and not carpet.
I removed him from the view of the "mistakes" before I cleaned them up so he could not see me cleaning it up. Always used Natures Miracle even on tile floor.
Also if we caught him going or finishing, we took him RIGHT outside. Whether he was done or not.
If he started regressing, he went right back to his smaller world that he just left. If he kept going in the smaller area, it was back to the even smaller area.
He would not go where he slept (crate).

Does your pup go where he sleeps?

Max is a year and 8 months now and has only had free run of the house during the day for about 3 months. He still sleeps in a 36 inch dog cage with his travel crate inside. He loves the den feel.

Don't give up!
