I, too, am inexperienced and this might not be legitimate advice but..

I'm sure others have had to crate their dogs for 10 hours or such before. Especially to establish potty training, it's not like it has to last 'forever'. I can't see any other way unless you paid to get some sort of a professional trainer to help you somehow.

That's just basing on books I've been reading on training.
