I know the feeling. We have a big field backing up to our yard and rabbits galore. I took Mosey out one night; I always carry him out and look around the yard for any rabbits. I did not see any so I set him down, he sniffed a little then took off!!! It's pitch black outside and he is barreling across the back yard!! Luckily, the dumb rabbit went to ground before he hit the field and Moses started smelling around for him. I finally got hold of him and took him back inside. No pee that night. Bad thing is, our yard is not fenced and he will not, repeat, WILL NOT pee if he is on a lead. So I am forever vigilant for rabbits, birds, dogs, etc. Three legs or not, that booger can fly!
