When your dog is expected to live 15 years or so, you plan on having to deal with death at a later time. But it can happen in the blink of an eye. I thought we would have time to deal with this as my dogs were only 7 years old, but we found ourselves in the position of having to make that decision last December. My Harley was attacked and killed and the vet hosp called and wanted to know did we want him cremated, to pick him up or have them dispose of him? We chose to pick him up and thankfully we had had a mild spell so the ground wasn't frozen. We buried him in the flower bed by the back door so he will always be close to us. We put a marker on top. It took a long time to go out that door again, it was just too hard.
