Have you tried regularly interrupting his playtime, even when he is calm? He should get used to regular pauses where he must focus on you. I'd also recommend trying to watch closely for signs that he is building up a head of steam. The earlier you catch it, the easier it is for him to snap out of it. I think it's probably something that will take a lot of practice, starting from very calm situations without much stimulus, and gradually moving to situations where he is temped to go wild. |
