I thought the same thing when I read this. Starving a tiny yorkie just doesn't make me comfortable -- I'd get a second opinion.
At least give him chicken baby food and rice to keep up his strength and push the fluids for sure. There are lots of meds that will stop the vomiting and diarrhea, I wonder why they weren't given to him, especially because of his size. Have you used Nutri-Cal?
