I am interested in knowing what is on the ground under the patio? Concrete or grass? I would like to be able to have a place for Maddie to go potty when it's pouring down outside. I have a large covered patio, but it's concrete. ??? |
My patio is concrete. Right at my back door under an awning type roof. The concrete has a gentle slope away from the house and the water I rinse with just runs off into crushed rock and grass along the perimeter. My husband made a frame from treated wood, 30 inches by 8ft. Laid it on the patio lining it up with the farthest edge from the house. Put 2ft little posts at the corners then wrapped black plastic mesh fence(also 2ft high) around the entire thing. We filled it with 3/4 inch crushed rock about 2 inches in depth. When she pees it runs down between the rocks to the concrete so she doesn't step in puddles, and poopies come up quite well, sometimes they take a rock or two. After each pee I rinse it(have a hose right there) and after a poopie it gets a spray with, Lysol with Bleach then I rinse that off. The plan is to move her back to her original potty area(also on crushed rock) in the spring when the rain ends.
Though I really like having it right outside the door, just can't see having a big potty pen on the patio for summer BBQ's LOL.
Hope my description makes sense. Maybe I'll post a pic of it if I can remember.
