you will have no problem..i changed Mollys from Bubbles when i adopted her at 2 years old. My first dog was 10 years when i adopted her and i changed her name from Lady to Willow, because she had been abused and i didnt want any reminder of the bad days. Both of them adjusted easily to their new names.
