We use a potty pen outside. It was about 7 x 9 ft but we just moved it to beside the house under a covered patio for the winter. Now it is a 30inchs by about 8 ft. It really works well and keeps clean up in one area. Also there is nothing then where the kids play. I never worry if they want to lay in the grass. If you can't do a pen maybe just leashing could work? Just stand still till the jobs done? Of course it is always safe to check if there is an underlying problem first. Some dogs just have funny habits though, so if that's the case maybe these ideas will help. Good luck.
