Mine use the doggie door and potty outside most of the time. But I have a couple who don't like to get their toesies wet if there's so much as a drop of dew on the grass.

Also, I didn't adopt Jordy from rescue until he was already 1 1/2 years old. He'd been raised in a puppy mill so he'd never been potty trained - we're still working on that & the puppy pads help a lot.
