We went through this pretty well recently with our mother in laws Jack Russell (we are there about a week or so every month). There's really good info here on YT about how to get your dogs adjusted to one another; the best advice I saw & what we followed was to be sure the "old" dog gets 75%(or close) of your attention the 1st few weeks. For us, this meant keeping the baby in our bedroom. The 1st 2 days or so we left the door closed which made the Jack curious. Next we brought the baby out in his crate & let them sniff each other that way. For a couple days after we left a pet gate across the bedroom door & let them acclimate a little more that way. Now we're able to allow them to play while we supervise; they run outdoors together along side me or DH, the baby on a leash of course because he so prone to following all those wonderful smells out there.
Hope some of this may help a bit...Good Luck!
