Default "Eyebrows"?

This is probably a really dumb question, mostly because I don't know how to ask, but does anybody have advice about the "eyebrows" on a Yorkie? From various pictures that I've seen, some Yorkies have the hair trimmed above the eyes, creating kind of a "shelf" that keeps the upper facial hair and hair between the ears from falling into the eyes, I guess. Other Yorkies look like the hair is left long and the top knot is smooth all the way from the eyes to the top of the head. My groomer has been trimming my puppy's "eyebrows" but I think the smooth look is so pretty and more feminine looking than the "shelf" trim. If the hair is not trimmed above the eyes, how do you keep it from falling into the dog's eyes when she is not wearing a topknot (like at night)? Her next grooming is Thursday, so I have to decide before then. I appreciate any wisdom you have on this topic.
