My first Yorkie, Chipper had a thick cottony coat and he never wore coats or sweaters and he never got cold in the winter. We have some pretty cold snowy days in New England and he would love playing out in the cold and snow. When he came back in the house he would have snowballs attached to his legs and under coat. Piper HATES the cold. She has a very fine silky coat and she freezes when it's 50 out. She has to wear a sweater or coat outside or she just stands and shivers. Put a coat on her and she is off and running and having a good time outside.
