The fleas were really bad this summer. We live in the country with a big grass lawn and we couldn't let our dog outside any because every time we did she would get fleas. All our neighbors had the same problem and the receptionist at the vet's said they have been a problem for everyone. The Frontline drops didn't work for anybody. I had to take Abby to the vet for tapeworms; he said they are caused by fleas. They gave her a pill to kill the fleas and it worked almost immediately. The pill lasts for a month. I treated the house kind of like you would for head lice, I washed all the bedding in hot water and sprayed the carpets, sofa, etc. You can buy the spray anywhere that sells pet supplies. There also is a treatment for the yard, but our yard is so big we didn't do that. Once my daughter had the pest control people treat her yard for fleas, you might consider that also if they get too bad. |
