I'm getting repairs done on my house. The local contractors are not hurting for business, & charging top dollar.

Eighteen months ago a breeder in NJ was selling pups for $2,500. The current litter of pups are selling for $2,800.

Vet prices in my area were very high compared with many other states, e.g., over $400 for neutering 18 months ago. I'm sure the price won't be less, & hopefully won't be more.

If I were to buy another Yorkie, I'd like to get one locally so I could meet the pup, but I'd like to pay a reasonable price considering the current economy.

It's definitely the economy! Although the builder is lucky to have the work you gave him. More people are having some work done to their homes now. Few people are moving to bigger homes or bigger lots.
Many home improvement contractors have dropped their prices. But they have to pay for materials. So it doesn't matter how low they want to go, they just can't go lower & lower. They just don't get the jobs.
Vets can charge whatever they like. They will benefit later.
I know many breeders that have struggled with finding homes. You are not alone. Dropped prices and still not finding the right homes.
Your prices are low. It's good not to ship. Someone will come along & be glad to come for them. Because the price is so low it only makes sense. It's not just the purchase price. It also the added cost in the family people are nervous of today. It should be looking up soon. Lets hope!
