to get there, I mean. It took us 2 horrific days from PA to FL. It was an absolute nightmare for us and our little ones.
We stayed in a pet friendly hotel, right in between the two states. My pups couldn't sleep, they kept sniffing everywhere and barking. My husband had to take them out to the truck and try to sleep there with them.
We barely got any sleep, then we resumed our trip at about 6 am. When we got to our destination at about midnight, we were so exhausted and disgusted, we swore never to do that again.
On our way back, half way through our trip, our little girl freaked out

. She started shaking and wanted nothing but to be held. We thought she had to potty every time, so we made several stops, but that wasn't why she wanted out. We noticed that she would calm down every time she was out of the car.
After that experience, our little girl didn't want to get in the car again. I had to take her out (while she shook) for tiny rides around the block and bring her right back home (several times), so that she would know that we were NOT going on a long trip.
Even if I were up to taking that long trip again, I don't think that our babies would/could handle it well

and that scares me---taking that chance.
We even thought about buying or renting an RV to make it easier on them and us, but that's not possible for many reasons.
How did you manage it?
