Your DH can do it too....no snacking after 6pm, taking more walks, watching his food intake, cutting out caffeine and drinking more water are all what she's done. She went through a depression after the loss of her doggie. Phoebie was 14 mixed breed (we don't know what) but she was a wonderful dog...by my mother's side after losing her DH to cancer.

My toy poodle went to live with her after this and I think it's helped her get a new leash on life. Mischa (9yoa) wasn't happy w/Barley (1-2 yoa rescue) being too hyper for her so after months of her not adjusting I let Mom have her and it's helped her more than I ever thought it would. Plus, Mischa loves the attention she gets being the only dog. There's always a silver lining...we just have to find it. Your girls and DH are there for you, as well as your horse...love them as they love you.
Sounds like you have had some rough times. I am sorry for that. Boy I guess it is life and we just have to make the best of it and look for those silver linings. I am sure I will find mine. (silver lining that is).
