I got a Dell Mini for myself but my daughter ended up taking it. She's 5 and goes to the sites like Webkinz, Noggin, etc and it works well. I think they are made for kids because I cannot type on it, I feel so cramped up. I think that it would be a good thing to get your daughter. It's small and she can take it anywhere. I did get an extended warranty on mine which I'm glad I did since my 5 yr old uses it all the time.
