I use Spectracide w/Triazicide Insect Killer Granules with a spreader, I buy it at Lowes every year. Elle may be correct with the name of the chemical (Permethrin) it works where I live (North Carolina). Some people don't like to use things that are labeled "not safe for children or pets" but I guess I'd rather take that risk than have a flea/tick problem.
