If you are thinking about getting a Yorkie, I want to tell you my story. Two years ago today My baby was born and at that time, I never in a million years thought I would be getting a new puppy in 10 weeks.
I was sitting in my recliner in November, 2007 and I got a call from my sister in law, telling me that her and her friend was going to get Yorkies for Christmas and she said there was a third one if I wanted it. I laughed and told her that I didn't think so because I already had a miniature Collie and he was all I needed in the house. (the reason I say he's a miniature Collie is because he's actually a Sheltie, but way too big for a Sheltie so I call him a miniature collie)

A few days later my DH ask me what I wanted for Christmas and I said "a Yorkie". He started laughing and said "your not getting another dog in this house". I said "ok" with a sad look on my face, pretty much teasing him, because I didn't want another dog either (I thought).

A few days passed and my SIL and bestfriend were so excited, because they had spoken for their puppies. They knew approx. dates that they could pick up their new little babies. As they were talking, i knew right then that I wanted one too. I went home that afternoon and sat down with my DH and told him I wanted the puppy. He immediately ask me if I was nuts. I told him I was serious and I wanted the other puppy. He then knew I was serious. He said" if your sure this is what you want and if you realize that she will be your responsilbility I guess that's what I will get for you". I immediately went to my phone and called my SIL and told her to call the lady and ask her if she still had the last little girl. I waited in inticipation for her to call me back and I remember thinking, (if she still has her , it is meant for me to have her and if she doesn't, then it's not meant for me to have her) I waited for about 15 minutes and i got the call from my SIL and she said she still had the last girl and that she was mine if I wanted her. I can't tell you how happy I was to hear the news, but also a little scared of what I might be getting myself into. For weeks all three of us waited on the day we would get our new babies. Oh how excited we were! Finally Dec. 23 came! She called and said she thought they were ready to come home with us. Oh my gosh we were like little kids waiting on Santa to come. My SIL's bestfriend is the one that knew the lady, so she picked all of the pups up to bring home to us. My SIL called with excited and said she just left Poplar Bluff and is on her way. We was so happy. We had our pink blankets and their beds all made and we were ready. She called us every 10 miles, telling us where she was and that she was almost home. We all met where my SIL worked and me and my SIL were ready to pick our babies. Of course, since my SIL was #2 to make the discission to get her baby, she had first pick of the two babies. I can't even tell you, how happy I was when I held Mia in my hands for the first time. It was love at first site and from that moment on, I've never regretted getting her.
She has had her fair share of accidents (pee and poo), and sugar scares, and vet visits, but she is still the love of my life. DH fell as hard as I did and our lives have changed forever. We have now went from a Queen sized bed to a King sized, so that she has her own spot in the bed without be squished. She has slept with us since 3-4 months old. We actually didn't let her sleep with us at first because she was too small and we was afraid we would smash her to death, so she had her own bed at first, but after a few months, when she had gained a few pounds, she began to sleep with us. This is where she is now as I write this, snuggled up with DH.
For anyone that is thinking about a Yorkie, I promise, you will be blessed. On this day, I would like to wish my sweet baby Mia a very Happy Birthday!!! I love you Mia and thank you for all the joy you have brought to my life! Thanks to all for reading my Birthday Story of my sweetie!
