Ukc For those who want a refresher course or to try thier hand at showing I suggest a UKC show.
AKC shows can be very over the top when trying to learn the ropes.
UKC shows are on a lowe stress scale and no handlers are showing uless they own the dog. It is a perfect way at a lower financial end emotional cost to learn, have fun and get up to speed for the AKC shows. If your dog has never been at a show will also give him a chance to experience and you
the hype drama and biz that goes on at a dog show. You can take your baby to puppy classes but you still do not have all the noise and other sounds and distractions that a show provides from a baby crying at ringside to all the hair dryers.
The judges will also give you suggestions and have you redo things in a effort to help you. You do not get that at a AKC show. 2 shows are held at the loaction each day- you get a lot for your money. It is the best money that I have spent.
I want to make sure that when I enter the AKC ring I have all my apples in the basket and this is allowing me to do just that. Peggy my handler will go and watch the kid show and also gives her a head start on what she wants to do with the kid.
Gives us a chance to look at how they ( the yorkies) handle the stress of a small show. If they can't handle a small show just think what a large AKC show will do to them. Gives them and you just a little more experience and you can never have enough. |
