well, between guy falkes when we were in Scotland and the 4th of July now that we are in teh states, poor Hamish never gets a break!

He is the calmest dog I've ever owned except during fireworks or a thunderstorm.

His heart races and he is quite unable to calm himself. No amount of rubbing, cuddling, or soothing him works, either.

I have had good results with rescue remedy, in other situations, but not this one. We had to go the sedative route, because quite honestly we thought he might do himself damage.

If we know the event is coming we give him a tablet well in advance and it seems to work better than if say a storm "blows up" and we have to give him one once his panting and pacing has started.I generally try my best to avoid drugs with the dogs, but, in this case, it really is the lesser of two evils for us. Nothing will distract him and he seems genuinely terrified.

So, its either that or take him to France for the night!

Good luck !
