I start my puppies with just a rubber band. Everyday I have them sit on the grooming table while I put a little product or just water on their top knot, comb a little, and put in a latex rubber band (so it won't break the hairs). Do it everyday for a couple weeks and they get used to it and then you can start putting the band in followed by a bow. Make it small at first so they don't feel too much difference.
