I have five yorkies, ranging in age from 6 months to 8 yrs, four boys and 1 girl. All are on Royal Canine and never have the runs. I think each dog is different with eating habits and stomach issues. Royal Canine is very well made food , look at the food grading chart, it rates right up there. For the original poster, perhaps trying to bulk him up a little would help with some additional fiber. Mine all get a raw baby carrot every day. It helps make their poo nice and firm, they love the taste and the bulk of the carrot helps them express their anal glands because it doesn't completely digest, so it's a little "rough" coming out. I have never had to have any of their glands expressed. That's wonderful that your baby has begun to get a little firmer in the poop department. If he enjoys the Royal Canine and is doing better now, I would not change foods. Too much change also upsets them, whether it be food, routine, etc. Since you've only recently gotten your furbaby, maybe he is now just starting to settle in. Keep us posted on his progress. I also think moving him to the kitchen area was a good idea. Please remember on this site that not everything is going to work for everyone. We can only share our experiences, ups & downs, sucesses & failures, we've all had lots of each of these. You may find that what seems like a "big issue" now will resolve itself within time and patience. Good luck to you with both your babies, skin & fur alike!
