Gee if you move him to where he cant see everything from where he could see everything you might have some problems. He might not like being in the pen and cry etc to get out a lot to get back out where he was .There dogs are SO sensitive to changes I have always found.A major change can upset them.
I am no expert but I think he should get used to you seeing him go potty and if you give him a treat for going he wont mind at all.
Maybe you will have to move him in a gradual way to another area instead of just from here to there kind of thing.
