 We adopted our yorkie one year ago
We could not be happier. he was pulled by animal control for physical abuse and neglet and placed with an adoption/rescue agency. He was approx 9 months old. He didnt play with toys, was very submissive, hid when we used a mop or broom. BUT love to be cuddled on our lap. Fast forward one year. He plays with all dog toys. Runs with abandon playing and is just a joyous baby. Our story did take some patience and work -a bit of rollar coaster ride-but to understand what these little ones have been through will give any family the endurance to surround their baby with love. (we borrowed a family members dog for four months, worked wonders on the teaching him how to play and be a happy dog part". We are considering adding a sibling for companionship now that our temp companion is gone. I would do this again in a heartbeat with no reservations. |
