Jake:

15 years ago, we found Jake. Jake was a white German Shepherd mix. We used to go visit family everyday in a neighbouring town. One of these visits we took the old gravel road in and by the tracks was the cutest dog. We thought maybe he was just from down the road. The next time we went through he was still there. I named him Jake the first time I seen him, he just looked like a Jake. My family would drive by there everytime we went to visit family. Everytime you drove by there he'd be sitting by the side of the road, or laying in the grass. I kept trying to get my family to bring him home. I went to visit a friend one day and my parents came to pick me up later that afternoon, we drove by where Jake usually was and he wasn't there, I was so sad. When we got home and drove down the drive who was waiting at the end, but Jake. My family decided they couldn't sit around and see him there anymore. He was out there a week, and yes I wish we would have brought him home sooner. We just couldn't believe someone left him, we kept thinking he might have lived down the road. He was fed, watered, bathed. Normally I'm scared of bigger dogs, but I was never scared of Jake. He was the sweetest dog ever! He hardly barked, never chewed anything, was great with kids, he never even used the bathroom in the yard, he would go into the bushes to use it! He had such a personality, he used to grin, he'd lift his lip and smile. He was healthly, just a little skinny when we got him. Boy, we loved him. He was great. We had him for a couple months and one day a guy came to deliver our water, and he said that Jake used to be his dog. He dropped him off because he used to chew his shoes!! Unreal, my dad told him well he's the perfect dog and he's ours now. I just can't believe to this day that someone would just dump off a sweet dog like Jake. It's heartbreaking thinking back on it, that Jake sat there for a whole week waiting at the exact spot for his owner to go back and get him. I'm glad my family did step up and take him home. He was adored and he adored. He lived a long, happy life with us. We weren't sure how old he was when we got him, we believe he was about 5. Jake is now over the rainbow bridge, but he'll never be forgotten.
