I had a 13 year old Mini Dachshund. Good health, no major problems. It may have been coincidence but we got this product from our Vet who recommended it after they told us they were no longer carrying Advantage, which is what we had used many times before on our dog.
Well, long story short. 3 days after using this product our dog passed away. Pretty horrible experience, maybe not the fault of this product, but it was very coincidental to say the least. One day she was fine, the next she was panting and breathing fast and hard. Took her to a new Vet who said he never heard of Vectra, but "doubted" it was a contributing factor as to her heavy breathing. He "thought" it looked and sounded more like a collapsed trachea. He gave her what a steroid shot, gave me some pills and told me not to start the p-ills unless her condition improved by 8:30 am the next morning and then call him. Well, the next morning at 4 am, she passed away.
End of story and I will never use this product again, regardless. Rest in peace Sabrina, we will miss you! | sorry to hear that; but i agree; it could be possible due to the nature of the ingredients; they are toxic. my dog was fine, until i starting using advantage tubes; month after month her health starting deteriating; i never put my finger on it; but now looking back i think it's the pestescide that can cause nerve damage and other health problems. so i stopped using it and the heart worm pill altogether; i bathe her once weekly in the summer and every other week in the winter; and when going outside i use the halo herbal dip with water and spray it on her; no flees or ticks or worms so far. good luck
