Why does the stupid phone thingy ask for your acct number? When you finally get to a live person they ask for the acct number!!!

Many years ago I was a cashier in a supermarket. I'm talking in my teens. We were never, ever allowed to take a sip of anything at our register. Now the girl/boy is texting while I'm standing there with the money in my hand. I don't live in such a secluded area that I am forced to shop at these stores. There are a million around. I will not shop in a store where the people Pi$$ me off!!!
