Some breeders call animal control and ask if there are any complaints against people looking to purchase...some locations will say yes or no. I think breeders should be getting referrals and they should be calling these people along with the vet. The one other thing is...trust your gut when it comes to people and don't let your nice voice in your head override your decision.
