Hi,

I have an 8 1/2 month old yorkie who came into heat a month ago. Because I have both a male and female I separated them at the first sign. He has since been neutered, about a week ago, and is doing fine.

The female has developed raised nipples. There are pink in color and are slightly swollen. Is this common when they are in heat? I don't see how she could have gotten pregnant when I separated them at the beginning. Could this maybe be a false pregnancy? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
