You will learn new things every single day and some you will find useful, some won't apply to your lifestyle. Like Shelbysmom said, she will need a familiar place all her own. Our Toto was 16 weeks when we brought her home .... we put an X-pen in the corner of the dining room right next to the kitchen [where most of the action is!] ... in that we put her wee wee pad, her little food stand for water & food, a little bed, toys, etc. We set it up configured one panel wide & 3 panels long ... plenty of room! That's her "safe place" where we only close the door if we have to go someplace and cannot take her [which is very rare]. Otherwise, she has the run of the entire house ... if someone comes to visit and she feels afraid or threatened, she goes to her pen all on her own!!
Also, we had great success teaching her not to chew .... we bought every chew toy we could find and anytime those little lips even looked like they wanted to be somewhere they shouldn't, we simply offered her a chew toy of her own. After she cut her permanent teeth, we didn't even have to worry about it ... if she wants to chew, she finds a chew toy in her toy box all by herself!
