Merrick are supposedly a medium smelling stick, going by what most people say. We buy a case at a time and there is lots of variation between the sticks, I'm not sure why, but it seems like the thicker ones have more of a smell. I don't think I notice the smell as much as I once did, but it's really dry here in AZ. I've heard of some brands with no smell, and other brands such as Red Barn that stink up a whole room. Joey loves them and that's all I care about any more.
