That has never ever been proven. Yorkies who already have liver problems should not eat a higher protein food, but if there are no underlying problems, it is not an issue at all. However, I do think that if your little dog is not very active, they shouldn't get as much protein because it needs to be worked off. I settled for the 35% protein level because I feel it's not extremely high like the EVO's (at 42% and up), and Orijen's but it's also not lower in the 20's because Jackson, for the most part, gets a lot of exercise.
