Florida and Arizona are the two big states with this. There are a few rescue group trying to rehome these dogs but more are destroyed because they cannot race fast enough. They make wonderful pets and I would encourage anyone to adopt a retired Greyhound. They just can never be left off of their leads but for the most part they are just big couch potatoes..My neighbors had a rescued one and he was scared to death of my Yorkies..it was a hoot. If I didn't have the Yorks...I definately would have retired Greyhounds...sweet, sweet dogs.
My niece adopted a female Greyhound that "wasn't fast enough". Most days when I stop at my niece's house Dulce is sacked out on the sofa wearing her pink tutu. Talk about spoiled!!
