There are two bile acid tests that I know of. One is urine, one is blood. It sounds like the blood one is the one your vet does. Out here it runs around $200. Your dog has to completely fast (no treats or anything) for 12 hrs before the test. They draw blood, then they feed the dog, wait two hours and draw more blood to compare to the first sample.
