Jackson was neutered at 6 1/2 months old and it did calm him down! He still has his spunky personality that I love but it just calmed the puppy side of him. Also, he hardly EVER humps anymore since being neutered (where as he used to every day!) He
maybe once a month decides to hump a teddy bear laying on the floor, but that's it. Humping is more of a dominance thing at this point, not sexual. It will affect him in only positive ways, in my opinion. Unaltered males generally will mark (lift their leg) indoor and out. They have a tendency to wander off... a lot. They can smell a female in heat miles and miles away. They have a risk for testicular cancer (which is reduced by 100% after being altered). It also generally eliminates aggression which could occur later down the road if not neutered. Dogs naturally want to mate 2x a year and if they can't, they will go crazy. The best part... it prevents unwanted litters of puppies, therefore not adding to the already overpopulation of animals being euthanized every day.
