I went to the mall today with my sister, and we went into the Pet store and they had about 4 scruffy looking puppies of which I could not tell what type of mix they were. I asked him where he got the puppies and he said local breeders and breeders in Wisconsin. I said they don't come from puppy mills? He of course said No. Well it turned out Orphans of The Storm another huge shelter by me was having an adoptathon at Macy's Dept store and they were right next to this Pet store. No one as in the pet store but a lot of people were looking at the kittens and dogs up for adoption. I was talking to the head of the shelter and told her of the peaceful protest the shelter I volunteer at was having and they are going to see about joining it. Which is great the shelter has much more funding than ours. Then she introduced me to the Manager of Macy's and he said they had tried pressuring the mall to not allow the store to open to no avail. It was so good to see Macy's involved in this adoptathon!! Also my sister fell in love with a poodle mix that had been left abandoned in an apartment in Chicago with a larger dog. The poodle was just found and is so skinny and matted. My sister is trying to talk her husband into letting her get it. |
