I haven't read about this before, can you take a picture to show us what you mean? One thing I thought of was Joey's breeder told me that most people cut the nails way too long, and eventually this causes the feet to spread, and this can cause a different walk. I doubt if this has anything to do with what you are saying, I just thought I'd mention it.
