If you are feeding a commercial dog food there is no reason to give your dog vitamins, they have all the necessary vitamins a dog needs. Overdosing on vitamins is not healthy either. However, if you are home cooking vitamins are a necessity. Some people give other forms of supplementation, but in most cases they are unnecessary, and more for the mama than baby, but generally they will do no harm. For a new puppy, I would not recommend anything. I think you should be cautious with new foods and supplements for the first 6 months.
