I want you to look at the pictures here. I was standing in the exact same spot when I took these, but I zoomed in on the one that left Zada and Razael a bit out of focus. Look how clear Azrael is on the left. What happen there?
I 'believe' (as i am SO new at this) that is has to do with your f stop number- when it is low- like 5.6 it is going to focus on what is closest and that will be sharpest- when it is higher it will focus crisply on all subjects- even if they are not the same distance from the camera

you can adust the f stop in Av mode- push the "set" button and then use the rotating thing that is right behind where you push the button to take the picture- you will see the numbers move.
