Have you tried hanging a bell on the door?Just ring it yourself really excited and repeat outside outside the take him out .I taught one of my girls to ring a bell when she has to go out.I have yet to get the others to do it yet.You can also pick up a bell that sits on the floor(service bell) and ring it too.
