I have five rescues. And NONE were given up due to size. From my experience in rescue what I find is that dogs in general (Not just Yorkies) are given up due to change of circumstances, such as a new baby, death of an owner and no one who wants to take the dog, move where they don't want to bring their pet with them for whater reason, impulse buy (someone buys a pup and realizes the responsibility) Potty Training, they cannot train the pup (Yorkies are notorious for taking a long time to train and people who are not famiiiar with the breed do not know this). Other reasons are age. You'd be surprised how many are dumped as seniors. I have not personally seen ANY dumped for being too big. I'm sure that some have but in my opinion and experience very few. I'm not sure who told you this or where you got your information from but I would research more deeply.
