The health benefits FAR outweigh the risks of spaying and neutering. I don't think that anyone is suggesting that we spay or yorkies solely to prevent pregnancy, but that the preventative health measures are immeasurable, and lead many of us to decide to "fix" them. It's everyones own choice to do what is best for their yorkie, but after doing research on the internet, in a few books, and talking to our vet, I feel comfortable in my decision to have them fixed. I think that overall they will be happier and healthier.
