It is not a weight but age that it is given. My vet waited until right before they were spayed/neutered. He required them to be 6 months and 5 lbs before the surgery and that is the age and weight for us. He did this because there is a HUGE price difference on an altered vs unaltered dog in the state of IL. I'm surprised she would be getting her rabies at only 17 weeks.
